LAN (local area network)

Switches

Kalpana, an Italian computer manufacturer, licensed the MAC Bridge patent to produce multi-port switches.

Datagrams are simple packets that contain just enough information to enable the switches to determine how to forward the packets. To determine the best route for a frame, a switch will consult its forwarding table, also known as the routing table.
